This will process will give you access to all files on the system. Any modifications you do from here out is at your own risk. SUPER NESTRO is already setup to run for the best user experience. We may not be able to help you if you modify these files to the extent of our knowledge.
In order to sideload ROMs, you must have an FTP program on your computer which allows you to do so. The easiest one to use is FileZilla.
Download and install: https://filezilla-project.org/
Make sure you’re getting the CLIENT and not SERVER.
Once you get this installed on your desktop, you’re now ready to sideload ROMs.
Run your FileZilla program on your desktop. You must fill in a few credentials:
- Host (IP Address)
Fill in the field with the information like so (except with the IP address you have in your own network from earlier steps):
The default password is: raspberry
Once all fields have been filled, press [Quickconnect]
Accept any type of cache key pop-up to continue (if any).
If it worked, you have connected to your SUPER NESTRO and a file directory system will be displayed.
- Double-Click on the folder RetroPie
- Double-Click on the folder roms
This is the folder with all the emulator directories. Although multiple systems are present, SUPER NESTRO only focuses on these three systems: nes, snes, and megadrive. If you wish to further modify your SUPER NESTRO to accommodate some of the other systems, you will have to figure that out through other sites as we do not support this.
Inset your ROM files into their respective folders.
- ATARI 2600 = atari2600
- ATARI 5200 = atari5200
- ATARI 7800 = atari7800
- CAPCOM CPS1/CPS2 = fba
- NEOGEO = neogeo
- NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM = nes
- NINTENDO GAME BOY = gb
- NINTENDO GAME BOY COLOR = gbc
- SEGA 32X = sega32x
- SEGA CD = segacd
- SEGA GAME GEAR = gamegear
- SEGA GENESIS = genesis or megadrive
- SEGA MASTER SYSTEM = mastersystem
- SUPER NINTENDO = snes
- PLAYSTATION ONE = psx
- TURBOGRAFX16 = pcengine
Note: Retropie is packed with other various emulators. You can still play these but they don’t look very good. Some might require extra modification to play. Please check with us before attempting to do so.
SUPER NESTRO needs to be refreshed to display any new games that were uploaded during this time. To do this, you will need to restart Emulation Station.
- Press [START] on your controller
- Select QUIT (Press A)
- *STOP* Press nothing as Emulation Station will restart in 5 seconds
SUPER NESTRO should now be propagated with the new ROMs you have uploaded.
Congratulations! If you’ve made it this far, you’re ready to play games! You can either choose to run the SCRAPER program or just start playing. If you’re ready to play, please refer to the controller commands below in the “PLAY GAMES” section.
Once you’re in a good place and have finished uploading all your ROMs, you should run the SCRAPER program to retrieve box art and metadata.
This is a fairly straight forward process.
- Press [START] on your controller
- Select SCRAPER (Press A)
- Select SCRAPE NOW (Press A)
- Select [START] (Press A)
When you go through the process, make sure you cycle through the appropriate game name. Pay attention to the ROM file name so it matches up with what you’re selecting. This can be useful when scraping for games that share the same name. If a game is “NOT FOUND”, you may have to use the “INPUT” option. Unfortunately the “INPUT” option requires a keyboard to be present so you’ll have to re-attach your USB keyboard. I suggest you do this only once when you’re ready to scrape all ROMs you have uploaded since it is a tedious process.
